Ewa Farna is a Polish-Czech singer, producer and songwritter.
She comes from Vendryně, a village on the border between the Czech Republic and Poland. She was born on 12 August 1993 in Třinec as the eldest of three children. Ewa is Polish by nationality, has Czech citizenship and belongs to the local ethnic minority. She graduated from a primary school with Polish as the language of instruction, as well as a Polish grammar school in Český Těšín. She was admitted to study law in Warsaw, but dropped out after completing her first year of studies.
At the age of 11, she was discovered at the Festival of Children’s Song in Havířov and was offered the opportunity to release her own record. As a fresh 13 year old she debuted with the single Měls me vůbec rád, which went to the top of the most listened to songs at that time and her eponymous album gained the status of 2x platinum record with more than 70 thousand sold units in one year.
In the same year she won the Best New Artist (Discovery of the Year Award) at the Czech Awards Český Slavík and two years later she became the youngest ever winner of the Český Slavík, coming in third place.
The then 15-year-old went on a solo tour as the youngest singer ever.
Today she is one of the most successful singers not only in the Czech Republic but also in neighbouring Poland, where she made her debut a year after her Czech debut. She has released 5 Czech and 6 Polish full-length albums, two “Best Of” compilations and even a few live recordings either acoustically or with a symphony orchestra.
In Poland, she received awards at the famous festivals in Opole or Sopot and her single Cicho became the Polish Hit of the Decade.
She has been a judge in several TV singing competitions (Idol, X factor and others) in both Poland and the Czech Republic and has also tried her hand as a presenter, having hosted two editions of the Czech Grammy Awards.
When she was 18 she founded her own production company and label, after 10 years she said goodbye to her discoverer Lešek Wronka and stood completely on her own feet. For the first time she produced her annual concert at the Forum Karlín Hall on her own and made a documentary Ewa Farna 10: Neznámá známá, which took 2 years to shoot.
In 2021, she celebrated 15 years in music industry with the release of UMAMI, which, thanks to its fusion of social themes and modern sound, has been described by reviewers as the pop manifesto of the rising generation.
In the same year, she and her childhood friend also founded their first brand MMNT (read:moment), which they launched directly on the Czech and Polish markets and is a producer of natural scented candles.
She is married to her former guitarist Martin Chobot, has two children and is one of the most influential personalities on Czech social networks.
Forbes included her in the prestigious “30 under 30”.
